Three Peaks Challenge

Congratulations to the amazing team who completed the Challenge!

Congratulations to the fantastic Three Peaks team – Challenge conquered! And £25,000 raised for the Support Group

The RTS Support Group’s main fundraising activity for 2023 was the National Three Peaks Challenge, which took over the weekend of 7-8 October. Our thanks go out to Rich Wyatt, who led the organisation of the event along with current committee members and drew on his experience and contacts to make the initiative a great success.

The National Three Peaks Challenge is a fast-paced and physically challenging adventure, with participants taking on the three highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales. Considered one of Britain’s toughest outdoor challenges, the National Three Peaks Challenge takes in the dizzy heights of Ben Nevis (1,344m), Scafell Pike (978m) and Snowdon (1,085m).

Over the course of two days, the intrepid team trekked around 26 miles, ascending a total height of almost 3,000m. The National Three Peaks Challenge is graded as ‘tough’. This serious challenge requiring of the participants to have a good level of fitness, as well as plenty of grit and determination.

The participants all proved their adventurous spirits by taking part. Several peaks were tackled in the dark at night and the weather was unkind with rain and fog making the conditions even more challenging.

A qualified walking guide provided necessary expertise on the route and supported the team during the challenge. Collectively, the amazing fundraising efforts of the team resulted in over £25,000 being raised for the Support Group, which will be used to unite families, share information, fund research and provide support and advice to families affected by RTS.

Congratulations to all of the incredible team who undertook the challenge, to Rich and the committee team who organised the event and provided essential driving between the peaks and ground support.
